Weddings parties in the streets are banned in Turkey

Interior Ministry has banned outdoor weddings througout Turkey, as a security measure, after the August 20th wedding bombing, that has killed 56 persons.

With the order of Ministry of Interior, outdoor weddings to be held in the streets of towns, cities and engagement ceremonies are banned because as a security measure. The ban announced by Provincial Administration to governorates and district governorates.

All wedding parties to be scheduled also should be informed security forces, persons who do not abide the law will be fined under the misdemeanor law. Security forces will also take measures at indoor weddings.

The bride and the groom were wounded in the attack on a street wedding, mostly attended by people from the eastern provinces of Siirt and Van. After initial inspections at the scene, police said they found pieces of a suicide vest.

On 20 August, a bomb attack at a wedding party in Gaziantep killed at least 56 people and injured nearly 100. Officials said the August 20 attack in Gaziantep, near Syria’s border, appeared to be a suicide bombing organised by the jihadist Islamic State (IS).
