Bar not to attend ceremony on ‘juridical independence’ concerns

Turkey's Bar Association will not participate in the opening ceremony of the new court year, on juridical independence concerns, according to a statement released by the Presidency of the organisation.

“Our association was invited to the new court year’s opening ceremony that was organised in a congress center of a hotel and we accepted the invitation. But, later it is stated that the location of the ceremony was changed and the new location would be the Presidential Complex. We as the Bar Association decided to atttend the ceremony. This decision is based on our sensitivity about the juridical independence and objectivity” Turkey Bar Association Presidency said in the statement.
