150 refugees from Greece expected to arrive in Turkey

Some 150 more refugees are expected to arrive from Greece to Turkey within the readmission agreement with the European Union (EU) on Friday, amid harsh protests.

The new wave of refugees, some 50 refugees from the Greek island of Lesbos, and some 100 others from the Samos and Chios islands were loaded to ferries, while some of the refugees and activists protested the readmission. The group departed after intervention of the police and coast guard officers.

Meanwhile, the harbor of Chios Island was reopened to service, after refugees protested and occupied the area. According to Greek newsportal Politishios.gr, security forces, the Mayor, as well as Manager of the harbour demanded refugees to leave the area in buses. More than ten refugees who have resisted the order were detained and brought to the Harbor Directorate.

According to recent reports, the number of refugees crossing into Greece fell significantly in the last 48 hours.
